Luggage and room keys in hand, Morgan and Drew stood in front of their door. Neither seemed ready to open it.

“What the hell are you waiting for?” Melora said, putting an arm around both their shoulders. “The sooner you guys go and shower, the sooner we can get to the restaurant for dinner. See you both in about half an hour,” she said, kissing one then the other on the cheek before heading back to her room.

Morgan inhaled deeply before blowing the breath out. She unlocked the door before turning to Drew and attempting to look more confident than she felt. “After you,” she said, holding the door for Drew to enter. Once they were inside the room, they both froze at what they saw. One bed. Not two single beds, but one queen-sized bed. Things just went from awkward to problematic. Morgan decided this was probably a good time to have that talk. She dropped her bag on the floor and took Drew’s hand, leading her to sit on the edge of the bed.

“What’s wrong, Morgan? Are you breaking up with me?” Drew asked in a tremulous voice.

Morgan looked at her like she had three heads instead of just the one perfect one. “No, not at all. Please, don’t ever worry about that,” she said, reaching up to cup Drew’s face lovingly. Drew closed her eyes and leaned into the touch. “I just,” she started, running her hand through her hair. “This is kind of a weird situation to be in, and we haven’t really talked about that day in the shower.”

Drew was busy studying the ground as Morgan continued. “I haven’t even asked if you are okay with everything that happened. I didn’t want to push you. I don’t want to push you. Ever. I know that just because we’re sharing a room and sleeping together that we’re not sleeping together. This was not planned, and I have no expectations.” There, she’d said it. Morgan was laid bare, and Drew’s continued quiet was unnerving. Was her whole spiel unnecessary?

Drew turned to her then, taking her hand and placing a lingering kiss on the back of it. “You are the sweetest person,” she hummed against Morgan’s skin, trailing kisses over her wrist. “I would never expect any pressure from you, and I am perfectly happy to share a room with you.”

Morgan turned to look at her then, unsure what to expect. But she wasn’t ready for the fire she found in her eyes. Drew took the fingertips of Morgan’s index and middle fingers between her teeth before running her tongue over them. “I’m also just as happy to share a bed with you.”

Morgan felt heat course through her as she pulled Drew in for a searing kiss. When they disengaged, they were caught up in each other’s stare. Their gazes burned with a palpable heat and said everything that didn’t need to be said out loud. Tonight, they would give themselves to one another and nothing would ever be the same.
